Ennis Municipal District Renews Flood Concerns

Ennis Municipal District Renews Flood Concerns

Published 3 weeks, 5 days ago
Description
Ennis MD has requested for the county's five Oireachtas members attend next month's MD meeting following concerns raised over flooding in the south of the town.    Clarecastle Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom O'Callaghan proposed a motion calling to expedite the publication of the Ennis South Flood Relief Scheme, with those in the council chamber also looking for Clare's TD's and Senators to attend the October meeting to address issues with wastewater capacity in Clareabbey and delays in housing delivery south of Ennis as a result.    Councillor O'Callaghan suffered damage to his home when floods hit the county town in 2009.    Since then, over €60m has been committed to flood relief schemes in Ennis, however, a number of regions such as near Claureen, the Fergus Minor and Corrovorrin have yet to be protected.    Clare FM's Darragh O'Grady was at the meeting and spoke with Clarecastle Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom O'Callaghan on the urgency with which the relief scheme is needed, given changes in climate patterns.
