Episode Details

Despite a top NL record, Atlanta has the worst offense (by wRC+) among seven NL contenders since May 1, with low on-base, few walks, and high strikeouts worsening over the last 30 days. Pitching and defense have carried, but ERA estimators suggest a shrinking margin for error. After a 7–1 loss to Tampa Bay, the Rays’ balanced profile highlighted Atlanta’s issues. A.J. Smith-Shawver’s command remains inconsistent post-TJ, Bryce Elder is out after knee surgery, and the Game 3 postseason starter options look uncertain, raising broader roster questions if October ends early.
