State government moves to reduce footprint in downtown Madison

Wisconsin's state government is moving to sell off a significant portion of the land it owns in downtown Madison, as it plans on increasing the number of state employees who live and work outside the city.
A recent example: the Legislature’s powerful budget-writing committee approved the sale last week of two downtown office buildings to a private developer, freeing up the 2.5 acre site for redevelopment. State Senator Kelda Roys, who represents the area, was the lone vote against the sale. She joined WORT News Producer Faye Parks to discuss her misgivings.
