Some of the equipment at the ballpark in Rio is original to the village school, which closed years ago. Brittany Miller, Bailey Lee and Danielle Bush are three moms in a village of a few hundred people who decided that wasn't good enough, so they brought back Rio Days — a community day that ran for 27 years before ending in 1997, until somebody found an old trophy and they decided to put it back into action. It returns Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ballpark in Rio: free admission, Touch-a-Truck, bounce houses, 20-plus vendors, live music, and a kittenball game at 10. Every dollar goes back into the park. They joined Galesburg's Morning News to explain how it works and what they're saving up for.
