You’re Allowed to Start Over
Description
I think we sometimes make restarting harder than it needs to be.
If we stop doing something that mattered to us, we tell ourselves we’ve lost our momentum. We feel behind and think we need to catch up or make a big plan before we can return.
This is your reminder that you’re allowed to just begin again. Start.
You can go back to the gym after missing a month.
You can call the friend you haven’t talked to in far too long.
You can return to your creative work even if the last page you wrote was weeks or years ago.
You can restart the habit on a Tuesday afternoon. You don’t have to wait for a new week, a new month, or a new year.
Beginning again doesn’t erase the progress you made before. And taking a break doesn’t mean the thing wasn’t important or something you enjoyed.
Sometimes we stop because we’re tired. Sometimes life shows up with things we didn’t expect. Sometimes we need just need a break so we can see what we want to return to.
That isn’t failure. It’s being human.
If something has been calling you back, listen or you’ve been missing something that previously brought you joy, today is the day.
Don’t worry about making up for lost time. Just do the next small thing.
Write one paragraph. Walk for ten minutes.
Send the message. Take the supplies out of the closet.
Hope doesn’t demand that we do everything perfectly or on a specific timeline. It does remind us that there is still time.
You haven’t missed your chance. You can begin again today.
