'Godzilla El Niño' threatens record heat and bushfires

A supersized El Niño is bringing record-breaking heat across the Pacific towards Australia, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting it could be the strongest on record. Dubbed 'Godzilla El Niño', the warm weather phenomenon is expected to increase the risk of bushfires and flash droughts across much of Australia's east and south. The event could persist until early 2027.
