Ipswich bushfire threatens homes as Queensland faces 184 blazes
Published 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Description
Firefighters continue to battle a bushfire in South Ripley, Ipswich, that has burned through 150 hectares since Sunday night and came dangerously close to homes. The blaze is one of 184 fires that have ignited across Queensland in the past 72 hours, fuelled by accumulated vegetation from several wet summers now transitioning to drier conditions. Residents watched nervously as flames approached their properties, with firefighters using controlled burns to reinforce containment lines ahead of what could be a severe fire season.
