In this episode, I talk to a phone guest, Yazmin Navarro, Vice Chair of the Colorado State Board of Education, for a conversation that goes far beyond her title and public role.
We talk about Yazmin’s childhood, the people and experiences that shaped who she is, the challenges and turning points that influenced her journey, and what ultimately led her into education, leadership, and public service. She also shares what it’s really like to serve in a position where decisions can impact students, families, and educators across Colorado.
But this conversation isn’t just about her career. We take time to get to know the person behind the public figure—her friendships, what keeps her grounded, what makes her happy, how she defines success today, and the things she’s still figuring out about herself.
We wrap up with a look toward the future, including her goals, hopes for her legacy, advice for young people who want to make a difference, and a fun rapid-fire round. Most importantly, this is a conversation about the person behind the position and the life experiences that helped shape the woman Yazmin is today.
