The planned visit of US President Donald Trump to Doonbeg this weekend is expected to bring both major international attention and large-scale protests.
The “Great Irish Unwelcome” demonstration is expected to involve several activist groups, with concerns about the potential impact on local residents, businesses and the Irish Open.
One person who has raised concerns about that impact is Geraldine Gregan, a political and Fine Gael activist, who recently wrote to The Irish Times in response to an article by journalist Justine McCarthy.
