Vast Resources PLC (LSE:VAST, FRA:D9A) CEO Andrew Prelea spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's return to AIM following completion of its reverse takeover with Gulf International, and how the deal has transformed the investment case. Prelea said Vast now holds a 49% interest in the Aprelevka Joint Venture, with board control, giving it exposure to existing gold and silver production in Tajikistan — producing just over 11,000 ounces of gold and 130,000 ounces of silver annually — while retaining its existing Romanian assets. "The fundamental difference is we are producing asset that is generating cash and is profitable," Prelea said, contrasting the enlarged group with Vast's previous position as a junior miner. He outlined plans to boost production and develop Soviet-era tailings containing gold and silver, with work under way on flotation and converting resources from the GKZ system to JORC compliance. On financing, Prelea said the company has closed a $10 million debt facility with Glencore, alongside a £7.5 million placing and other subscriptions that have addressed historic debt. $4 million of the new facility will fund working capital to expand Aprelevka and advance JORC resource work. He also explained the board's decision to resume AIM trading, citing access to debt and equity markets, investor liquidity, and the role a public listing can play in supporting future expansion.
