In this episode, Darren and I recap Lanterns episode 4, “The Weenie,” which Victor calls his favorite so far because the mysteries are sharpening and the next-episode trailer promises more action. We discuss Sinestro warning Hal about ulterior motives, Jon Stewart being pressured by the Guardians’ representative to steal Hal’s ring, and the investigation in town as the sheriff temporarily aligns with them to prevent annihilation. The episode strongly points to Zoe, Macon’s wife, as the Manhunter, including her apparent “death” via satellite strike and the breadcrumb trail leading to a billionaire benefactor whose alien tech enables cow-teleportation and other miracles. We break down the noir theme of everyone lying, Hal’s decision to undermine Jon rather than team up, and the cliffhanger where Hal crashes Jon’s car after arranging a meeting with the incoming aliens.
