The Red Suitcase on the Tamil Nadu Express - The M*rder of HAYATHUN NISHA
Description
The murder of Hayathun Nisha, 38, triggered an interstate investigation after her dismembered remains were discovered inside a red trolley suitcase aboard the Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Express at Agra Cantonment railway station on August 5, 2026. Police traced the suitcase back to Chennai Central after reviewing more than 350 CCTV recordings.
Cameras then followed suspects Manik Uddin Laskar and his wife Bhagabati Majhi through Park Station, Guduvancheri and eventually to a rented house on Mosque Street, where investigators recovered additional remains. Police allege Nisha had been in a relationship with Laskar and that tensions escalated over her demand that he marry her. The couple fled Tamil Nadu but were tracked more than 2,000 kilometres away to Manipur and arrested in late August. The investigation remains ongoing, and neither accused has yet been convicted.
