Coach checks in from his new home base in Texas for a Labor Day edition of Coach and Company and brings in Brandon Combs and Mikey P to recap Week 1 of college football. First up is LSU's 51-10 dismantling of Clemson in Lane Kiffin's debut — and Kiffin's halftime shot at Dabo Swinney, "imagine if we had pro players", after Swinney's offseason comments about the state of college football. Brandon argues Swinney is now squarely on the hot seat and that LSU is every bit as good as advertised; Mikey P, a former LSU fan, says he's out on Kiffin's heel act and has jumped to Ole Miss — which needed a walk-off 48-yard field goal to survive Louisville 41-38 Sunday night.

Then the main event: Michigan 13, Western Michigan 12, won on a Hail Mary after the stadium clock read 0:00 and a review restored one second. The Big Ten's explanation — that the Broncos defender who batted the first Hail Mary out of bounds started his jump from out of bounds with one second left — does not satisfy Brandon, who calls it a bailout for a 27.5-point favorite and takes aim at Michigan fans for storming the field after beating a MAC team. Mikey P brands the play the "Bail Mary," calls for an ACC-style live review explanation across every conference, and Coach orders "BAIL MARY" merch on the shop by 2 p.m. Quick hitters follow: Notre Dame's 41-13 second-half takeover of Wisconsin (with Coach's betting lean on Irish team totals), and James Franklin's "Enter Sandman" debut at Virginia Tech.

Gridiron Time opens NFL week with the Falcons naming Tua Tagovailoa the Week 1 starter over Michael Penix Jr. — Brandon, a day after drafting Kyle Pitts, is beside himself; Mikey P notes Penix wasn't cleared for full 11-on-11 work until late August and predicts Tua has the shortest leash in the league. The crew debates the NFC South after last year's three-way tie at 8-9, and Brandon makes the case that Baker Mayfield, playing 2026 without an extension, performs best with his back against the wall and could be in the MVP conversation. Mikey P counters that Tampa is waiting to see whether Mayfield can elevate a young receiving corps without Mike Evans.
