Built for Passengers Who Never Came.. The SINSEOL-DONG GHOST PLATFORM

Published 21 hours ago
Description

Beneath Sinseol-dong Station in Seoul sits a fully constructed subway platform that has never carried regular passengers. Built between 1972 and 1974 for an early version of Seoul Subway Line 5, the platform became obsolete after the city's railway plans changed. Hidden behind an ordinary steel door, the so-called Sinseol-dong Ghost Platform still contains its original track, concrete walls, yellow safety line and vintage “Shinsol-dong” station sign.

Empty trains continue to pass through the space on their way to a depot, adding to decades of urban legends about the forgotten platform. The location later became famous through Korean dramas and K-pop videos by EXO, Twice, B.A.P and Beast. Temporarily opened to visitors in 2017, the platform was designated Seoul Future Heritage in 2021.
