A Luger Was Just Found in Lake Annecy.. Is the CHEVALINE Mystery Finally Breaking??

Description

The Chevaline murders, also known as the Lake Annecy killings, remain one of France's most baffling unsolved crimes. On September 5, 2012, British-Iraqi engineer Saad al-Hilli, his wife Iqbal, mother-in-law Suhaila al-Allaf and French cyclist Sylvain Mollier were shot dead at a remote forest parking area near Lake Annecy. Saad's daughters, seven-year-old Zainab and four-year-old Zeena, miraculously survived.

Investigators believe the killer fired 21 rounds from a rare Swiss Luger P06/29 in less than two minutes, but they have never established who the intended target was or identified the gunman. In August 2026, a Luger pistol was discovered underwater in Lake Annecy, prompting new forensic testing, although preliminary reports suggest it may not be the murder weapon. Fourteen years later, the Chevaline mystery remains unsolved.
