September 7 | Learning How to Live
Description
Today’s reading from Proverbs 1–2 and 1 Corinthians 16 invites us to reflect on what it means to learn how to live with wisdom. Both passages remind us that wisdom is not simply knowing the right answers, but becoming the kind of person who learns to recognize what matters, respond faithfully, and allow God to shape our judgment over time.
In Proverbs 1–2, wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord and grows through a steady rhythm of listening, receiving instruction, and learning to discern the right path. Wisdom becomes part of our identity as we repeatedly allow God’s truth to shape how we understand life, relationships, choices, and the direction of our hearts.
In 1 Corinthians 16, Paul gives practical instructions about generosity, relationships, ministry, courage, and love. His words show that wisdom eventually becomes visible in the way we respond to ordinary situations. Spiritual maturity includes learning to remain aware of what God is doing, recognize our calling within it, and respond with steadiness, strength, and love.
Together, these passages invite us to consider what has been shaping the way we live. They remind us that wisdom develops slowly as we listen to God, remain teachable, and allow His truth to become part of how we see the world and understand our place within it.
