Before he tells his son what to run from, he tells him what to run to. Because the fight against temptation isn't won in the moment of testing. It's won in what you've been feeding your attention for weeks before it.
Willpower shows up too late. The compromise doesn’t start when you give in. It starts with what you let your eyes linger on, what you let your mind entertain, and what you quietly stop guarding. Discretion doesn't fall on you. Verse 2 says maintain it. That's active. That's a discipline built in the ordinary hours long before the test arrives.
