The US beef and dairy herd is the lowest it has been in 75 years, and consumers are paying dearly at the supermarket as a result. To provide some relief, the White House has hatched a plan to import 300,000 metric tons of beef, equal to 660 million pounds. After meeting with the president, JBS – a questionable Brazilian slaughterhouse – will be supplying the beef without tariffs. Costco has decided not to sell this imported beef, but American farmers are already seeing the value of their cattle suffer.
