SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 6, 2026 "Reflections from Deflections" Acts 26:24-32

Published 1 month ago
Description

A single shout cuts through the courtroom: “Paul, you are out of your mind.” That reaction from Festus is more than a dramatic moment, it’s a mirror. When the resurrection of Jesus lands in front of us, we often deflect it the same way we deflect anything that threatens our control: we label it foolish, file it away as “too much,” or move on before it can ask anything of us. We walk through Acts 26:24-32 and slow down long enough to face what Paul is actually claiming.

We talk about two common evasions. Festus shows how we dismiss truth when we don’t understand it, even when the claim is public and testable. Agrippa shows how we excuse truth when we do understand it, but we don’t like where it leads. The gospel confronts us with the reality of sin and the need for a Savior, then offers the heart of Christian faith: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day, witnessed by many.

Then we learn from Paul himself. Even after rejection, even as leaders stand up and walk out, he keeps pleading for repentance and faith, and he keeps pointing to the power God gives His people to be witnesses. If you’ve been avoiding the message or growing quiet in your witness, this is a call to consider, repent, and persist.
