Government honours Seretse Khama with street name

Published 1 year ago
Description

Namibia immortalised Botswana’s founding president, Seretse Khama, by renaming Feldstrasse near Ausspannplatz to Sir Seretse Khama Street.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah describes the gesture as a reflection of the “unbreakable bond” between the two countries, while former Botswana president Ian Khama, Seretse Khama’s son, attended the ceremony, calling the moment deeply symbolic of the values his father lived by.

To reflect on what this moment means for both nations, Desert FM speaks to former president Ian Khama.
