What If the Future Isn’t Fixed? | Eric Leigh-Pink
Description
What if the future could be glimpsed without being predetermined?
In this episode of Thought Atlas, I sit down with Eric Leigh-Pink, a writer and content creator who says he has experienced what he describes as communication with the spiritual realm and has spent years publicly documenting predictions about future events.
Eric explains that his experiences began with what he describes as an awakening—a period of intense reflection about who he was and why he was here. During that experience, he says he encountered memories of different lifetimes and recognized a recurring theme: a perceived ability to communicate with what he calls the spiritual realm.
He says this eventually led him to create and publish predictions about major world events, including wars, political events, hurricanes, and other events he believes have changed the direction of the world.
But the most interesting question isn’t simply whether someone can predict the future.
It’s whether prediction is compatible with free will.
Eric argues that it is.
He compares his view of the future to standing on a mountain with a telescope. Someone driving a car can see only what is directly ahead, while a person viewing the road from a distance may see something the driver cannot yet see. In Eric’s analogy, seeing what may happen does not mean forcing it to happen.
The person in the car still has a choice.
We explore how Eric reconciles his belief in prediction with personal responsibility, and why he rejects the idea that everything is predetermined. He argues that people make choices and that knowing what may happen doesn’t remove the ability to respond differently.
Eric also explains why he makes his predictions publicly rather than keeping them private. For him, documenting both successes and mistakes is part of learning and refining what he describes as his craft. He says he is less concerned with criticism than with learning from mistakes and improving.
The conversation then moves into Eric’s understanding of time.
He describes his perception of past, present, and future as something more complicated than a simple sequence, comparing it to looking at a reflection on a lake where different pieces can be seen without necessarily appearing in a clear order.
Whether listeners interpret these experiences spiritually, psychologically, philosophically, or skeptically, they raise fascinating questions about how human beings understand time, uncertainty, intuition, and belief.
Eric also reflects on how his worldview affects his experience of the present. While he says many people look at the current state of the world and see something frightening, he believes his perspective on future possibilities gives him reason to feel hopeful.
That hope is central to his message.
Eric says his predictions have included wars and other major conflicts, but he emphasizes that he believes world peace is coming and that humanity is ultimately moving toward a different future.
We end with Eric’s broader belief that humanity is learning how to love one another, beginning with our closest relationships and families.
This is a conversation about prediction, spirituality, intuition, free will, time, consciousness, uncertainty, belief, and the enduring human desire to understand what comes next.
