Episode Details

South Carolina football is officially just days away from kickoff. On today’s Locked On Gamecocks, Chris Marler previews the Gamecocks’ season opener against Kent State and breaks down five things South Carolina fans need to know about the Golden Flashes before Saturday.

Can LaNorris Sellers and the new Kendal Briles offense put 50 points on the board? Chris looks at Kent State quarterback Drew DeShields, dangerous return man Darylis Clark, the matchups to watch for South Carolina’s defense and several Gamecocks who could make an early statement in Week 1. The episode also dives into DJ Black, the Gamecocks’ wide receiver and tight end rotations, South Carolina’s unsettled kicker situation and what Shane Beamer’s team needs to accomplish before SEC play begins.

Plus, Chris reveals his preseason South Carolina bowl projection and explains why an 8-4 or 9-3 season remains firmly on the table for the Gamecocks in 2026.
