Episode Details

A witch, in her words, isn't a Halloween costume — it's a healer who never got the MD. Lindy runs the Witch Depot in Kenner, Louisiana, and she claims the title without flinching. She grew up Southern Baptist in a small Mississippi town, moved to New Orleans in her twenties, and found Wicca waiting on the other side. Not all Wiccans are witches, she explains — paganism is an umbrella just like Christianity, with Wicca as one room under it. The line that actually separates a Wiccan from a witch isn't faith at all. It's practice. The moment you start manipulating energy, you've crossed it. Know thyself. Balance your energy.

Takeaways

1. Lindy defines a witch as a healing-arts practitioner — herbs and energy work standing in where modern medicine leaves gaps.
2. She grew up Southern Baptist in rural Mississippi and only found her path after moving to the New Orleans area in her early twenties.
3. The Witch Depot name almost got softened for public comfort — she chose to claim it outright instead.
4. Paganism functions as an umbrella term, like Christianity holding Catholic, Baptist, and Methodist underneath it — Wicca is one subset, not the whole.
5. Not all Wiccans are witches. Practicing magic — intentionally manipulating energy — is what actually crosses someone into the "witch" category.
