(County News) SKYWARN Storm Spotter Class: Martin County Emergency Management, along with NWS-Melbourne, is offering a free SKYWARN® storm spotter class. Volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS). The class will be held on September 29, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Martin County Public Safety Complex, Emergency Operations Center, located at 800 SE Monterey Road. (County News) 9/11 Memorial Tribute Ceremony: Join us as we remember the victims and honor the heroes of 9/11 at the Memorial Tribute Ceremony to be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 11 outside the Martin County Library System's Peter & Julie Cummings Library in Palm City. (PWD) One Step Closer to Conservation: This week the Martin County Board of County Commissioners approved nearly 3,000 acres of environmentally sensitive lands for consideration as potential future land acquisitions thanks to the Land Acquisition Sales Tax. Overseen by Senior Environmental Project Manager Michael Yustin, these properties are selected and ranked by the Environmental Lands Oversight Committee (ELOC) with the goal of protecting Martin County’s most valuable natural resources.
