What If Things Are Working in Your Favor?
Description
I recently learned the word pronoia.
Did everyone else already know about this?
It sounds like paranoia but it’s the opposite. Pronoia is the belief that the universe is conspiring in your favor.
That sounds hopeful doesn’t it? I like thinking that good things are being lined up for me.
And I think it’s perfect for those of us who want to create a more hopeful world.
Pronoia doesn’t mean pretending that everything is easy or that bad things never happen. We know that isn’t true.
It means leaving room for the possibility that good things are happening, too.
What feels like a disappointment might be redirecting you toward an opportunity you can’t see yet.
Someone you helped years ago might still remember your kindness and share that with others.
The right person might be looking for exactly what you have to offer or your boss might be planning to promote you.
We spend a lot of time preparing ourselves for what could go wrong. What if we also practiced noticing what might go right?
Today, look for evidence that life is working in your favor.
Notice the unexpected kindness. The perfectly timed message. Even simple things like a prime parking space that opens just when you need it count.
Call it coincidence if you want.
I’m going to call it hope.
And maybe creating a more hopeful world begins with expecting that there is goodness to be found and then becoming part of that goodness for someone else.
What if something good is already making its way toward you?
I hope you can leave room for that possibility today.
