How the ‘brutal’ murder of Cork postman Barry Daly left a town in mourning
Description
The night of October 11, 2025 was meant to be one of celebration in the north Cork town of Doneraile. Locals gathered to mark a GAA victory, continuing their festivities into the night. However, over the next few hours tensions began to rise on the town's Main Street. A short time later, local postman and father-of-five Barry Daly was beaten to death with a golf club outside his own home. Now, 21-year-old Alex Deady has been sentenced to life in prison for his murder.
Kevin Doyle is joined by Irish Independent southern correspondent Ralph Riegel to examine how a community celebration descended into a brutal killing.
