Ghost Apps And Badly Explained Movie Plots - 3rd Birthday Episode

Send us a Comment, Question or Request, we'd love to hear from you

A ghost app says “David” the moment we open it, and that single weird word kicks off one of our most chaotic catch-ups yet. Hannah has just turned 30 and feels like she’s finally joined a club she’s been eyeing for years, while I’m quietly realising that bending down now comes with sound effects. What starts as birthday chat quickly turns into paranormal curiosity, because Hannah has been testing GhostTube and collecting evidence of a sarcastic spirit she’s named Janet. Funny? Yes. Unsettling? Also yes.

From there we bounce through pop culture like only a father-daughter podcast can. We talk horror, including Backrooms and why young, self-taught filmmakers are doing genuinely impressive work thanks to better accessibility and cheaper tech. We also pause on the way culture reacts when famous names die, and why some people are remembered as much for their kindness and charity as for their headline talent.

Then we turn the whole thing into a game: “Explain The Plot Badly”. Expect rapid-fire movie trivia, ridiculous one-line summaries, and guesses spanning The Lord of the Rings, The Truman Show, Inception, The Matrix, and more, plus a side-quest into why kids’ films can be sneakily traumatising. We even squeeze in gaming talk, because GTA 6 has us making plans that feel way too serious for a release date.

If you like film quizzes, horror recommendations, paranormal talk, and a warm British chat with plenty of laughter, hit subscribe, share it with a mate, and leave us a review so more people can find Bonus Dad, Bonus Daughter.
