#216 I Couldn’t Find a Horse Training Tracker—So I Built One

Season 1 Episode 216 Published 1 week ago
Description

Friday rolls around and Monday somehow feels like it happened three weeks ago. You’re standing at the barn thinking, Wait… when did I ride this horse last? What did we work on? Was that the ride where something finally clicked—or was that the other horse?

That was me. I was tired of carrying every horse’s training program around in my head, and after years of searching for an app that tracked the actual training—not vet records, invoices, or GPS miles—I finally decided to build it myself.

In this episode, I’m sharing the story behind EveryHorse Training Tracker, how I’m using it with my own horses, and the unexpected way getting my horse training out of my head has actually helped me become more consistent in the saddle. Because the 10-minute rides, groundwork sessions, conditioning days, and tiny pieces you work on before the breakthrough? They count, too.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why I created EveryHorse Training Tracker
  • Why remembering whether you rode isn’t enough to understand your horse’s training
  • How short rides, groundwork, conditioning, lessons, and exposure sessions all contribute to progress
  • Why different horses need different training goals
  • How tracking my rides unexpectedly made me more consistent
  • Why seeing your work can help quiet that “I’m not doing enough” voice
  • How three weeks of tiny exercises helped lead to my mustang Brumby’s first lead change
  • Why EveryHorse gives you information about your training without telling you how to train your horse

Questions I Answer:

  • How do you keep track of multiple horses without holding everything in your head?
  • Does a 10- or 15-minute ride really count as a training session?
  • Why did notebooks and barn whiteboards never work for you?
  • How can tracking your horse training help you become more consistent?
  • What should actually count when tracking a horse’s work?
  • Can EveryHorse work for riders outside of reining and western performance horses?
  • When is EveryHorse coming to Android?
