Episode Details

This week, we sit down with Stuart Henderson of MV Orchids to talk about Hoya breeding, growing from seed, and the wonderfully unpredictable process of creating something new.

We get into pollination, seed collection, germination, choosing parent plants, seedling variation, and what makes a plant worth watching, propagating, or eventually naming. Stuart also shares insight into provenance, identification, and the patience required to raise Hoyas from seed.

It’s a conversation about genetics, experimentation, and the long game of Hoya growing, including all the surprises that happen between making a cross and seeing what actually grows.

If you’ve ever wondered where new Hoyas come from, this episode is for you.
