This is not a Catholic theological work. David Pareus was a prominent Reformed Protestant theologian, and this 1593 work presents the doctrines of the Reformed Churches on subjects including Christ, salvation, predestination, faith, the Church, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and civil government. For a Catholic, it can nevertheless be valuable as a historical and apologetic study of Reformation-era theology, particularly for understanding where Reformed doctrine differs from Catholic teaching. Pareus's larger theological writings also explicitly argue against Catholic doctrines.
