Description

A new veterans’ cemetery is set to break ground this October in Madison County, Alabama, thanks to a $13.5 million federal grant secured by U.S. Rep. Dale Strong. Located off Highway 72 for easy access, the facility will serve over 42,000 North Alabama veterans currently forced to travel more than 75 miles to reach VA cemeteries. Designed to honor service members for over 200 years, it’ll offer traditional burials, cremation niches, and a scatter garden — all within a thoughtfully planned space that’s been made possible through collaboration with state leaders and local officials. Construction begins soon, with capacity for 10,000 interments in the first decade.
