Episode Details

John Fourcade says a man who signs a professional contract is done — no do-overs, no coming back. Then he tells the story of the 1987 strike season, when Jim Finks caught him at the airport on his way to sign with the Raiders and turned him around, and he crossed the picket line to play for the Saints. Six days to Louisville. Steven Willis brings in the former Ole Miss quarterback for the weekly legend segment: why Nashville plays as a home game, why he'd cut Trinidad Chambliss's designed carries roughly in half, the question nobody is asking about what's behind Chambliss on the depth chart, and a Week 1 board where Ole Miss carries the smallest line in the SEC.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Fourcade doesn't buy that the offense changes much — he points out that in his day every quarterback on the roster ran the same offense, and expects the staff to keep what worked. His caution: don't build designed runs around Chambliss. He'd take the carries from 10-12 down to 6-8, and he brings up Robert Griffin III at Baylor as the reason.

2. The question he asks that nobody else has: everyone knew what was behind Austin Simmons.

Nobody knows what's behind Trinidad Chambliss.

3. On Nashville: "It's a lot more SEC than the big ACC." He believes Ole Miss is the better football team and doesn't see Louisville winning — while allowing they can beat anybody on a given day. Odds referenced are via FanDuel Sportsbook.
