Description

Today’s reading from Psalm 132–134 and 1 Corinthians 11:17–34 invites us to consider how easily sacred rhythms can become familiar and how God forms us as we remain attentive to His presence and to one another. Both passages remind us that worship is more than repetition. It shapes identity over time as we learn to remember who God is and who we are together.

In Psalm 132–134, worship is connected to remembering God’s covenant, gathering in His presence, and living together as His people. These songs reveal a steady rhythm of obedience and worship that forms a community around God rather than around individual preference.

In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul confronts a church that has allowed the Lord’s Supper to become distorted by division, selfishness, and social separation. He calls them back to awareness by reminding them what the bread and cup represent and inviting them to examine themselves before participating in something so sacred.

Together, these passages invite us to reflect on the sacred practices that have become familiar in our own lives. They encourage us to notice whether repetition is deepening our awareness of God and one another or quietly allowing something meaningful to become common.
