Big Idea: YOU WERE DEAD. BUT GOD. NOW LIVE DIFFERENT.
Ephesians 2 does not describe us as sick, struggling or mostly dead. It says we were DEAD in our sin, BOUND by the course of this world and CONDEMNED as children of wrath.
But then come two of the greatest words in Scripture: BUT GOD.
Because He is rich in mercy and great in love, God MADE US ALIVE with Christ, RAISED US UP with Him and SEATED US with Him in the heavenly places. We are saved by grace through faith, not by our works, not by our record and not by anything we bring to the table.
And grace does not just save us from something. It saves us for something.
We are HIS WORKMANSHIP, created in Christ Jesus for good works God prepared beforehand for us to walk in.
You were dead. But God. Now live different.
