August 30 | What Is Your Life Communicating?
Description
Today’s reading from Psalm 129–131 and 1 Corinthians 11:1–16 invites us to consider what our lives communicate about the God we follow. Both passages draw us beyond outward appearance and toward the steady formation of humility, dependence, and a life increasingly shaped by God over time.
In Psalm 129–131, we hear the rhythm of people who have experienced opposition, learned to wait on the Lord, and quieted themselves in His presence. Their identity is not formed simply by circumstances or outward practices, but through continued dependence, obedience, and trust in God.
In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul addresses outward actions within worship that carried important cultural meaning in Corinth. Rather than reducing faith to external rules, he calls believers to notice how their actions communicate honor, relationship, and ultimately their commitment to follow Christ.
Together, these passages invite us to reflect on what our lives are quietly communicating. They encourage us to notice where we may be more concerned about following rules than becoming like Jesus, and to consider how Christ’s character is gradually being formed in the way we live.
