Join Rob McConnell as he welcomes Dr. Caron B. Goode, author, counselor, psychotherapist, educator, and parenting expert whose work has explored the fascinating world of intuitive and highly sensitive children. Drawing on fifteen years in private psychotherapy practice and three decades of experience in education, personal empowerment, and therapy, Goode has devoted much of her career to helping parents better recognize and nurture the individual abilities of their children. Goode is the co-author, with Tara Paterson, of Raising Intuitive Children: Guide Your Children to Know and Trust Their Gifts. The book examines children described as unusually intuitive, empathic, sensitive, or spiritually aware and offers parents strategies for recognizing their children's strengths, improving communication, encouraging confidence, and creating an environment in which children feel safe discussing unusual experiences. It also addresses breathing techniques, family rituals, bonding, and different parenting approaches for different personalities. During this intriguing conversation, Rob and Caron explore what it actually means to call a child “intuitive.” Are some youngsters simply exceptionally observant and emotionally sensitive, or might certain children possess abilities that extend beyond our conventional understanding of perception? Goode's later book, Kids Who See Ghosts: How to Guide Them Through Fear, ventures even further into this territory, examining children who report ghosts, psychic impressions, and other unusual experiences. Importantly, her approach emphasizes helping frightened children feel heard and empowered regardless of whether the parent personally accepts a paranormal explanation.
