I Thought Christians Didn’t Struggle With This
Description
What happens when you love Jesus… but you’re struggling with something you were told Christians don’t struggle with?
In this episode of the Inspire Hope Podcast, Laurie Krieg shares her honest Christian testimony about same-sex attraction, hidden struggles, faith, identity, and the journey of bringing everything into the light of Jesus.
For Laurie, hiding looked like performance, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. But underneath it was a struggle she didn’t know how to talk about.
From a young age, Laurie experienced same-sex attraction. She grew up believing this wasn’t something a “real Christian” would struggle with—so when a friendship eventually became a secret same-sex relationship, she found herself trying to reconcile her faith with a part her life she had kept hidden.
This conversation explores Christian identity, sexual temptation, shame, vulnerability, healing, and what it means to follow Jesus while facing deeply personal struggles.
Because people sitting beside us in church every Sunday may genuinely love Jesus while carrying questions, temptations, and struggles they’re terrified to say out loud.
Laurie’s story is honest. It’s vulnerable. And ultimately, it points us back to Jesus.
