Shiftheads - Optimus Prime and Personal Stories of Peter Cullen Stories from Transformer’s TFCon
Description
Peter Cullen's death has TFCon founder Colin Douglas reflecting on the man behind Optimus Prime, and the fallout of one decision Hasbro made in 1986 still shapes how studios write character deaths today. This one goes past the tributes into what fans actually forced the industry to change.
Killing off Optimus Prime in the 1986 movie set off a wave of backlash so intense it altered two separate franchises. Colin walks through how the character came back, and the surprising way the fallout reached all the way into G.I. Joe.
Colin also gets personal, recalling what Peter Cullen was actually like at conventions and airports, including a piece of advice from Peter's brother that shaped the voice millions grew up with.
