The New York Islanders have a roster battle at center with Barzal, Horvat, Pageau, Cizikas, and Ritchie. Gary and Kelly break down the goaltending and blue line competitions, and predict who makes the opening night roster.
Mathew Barzal, Bo Horvat, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Casey Cizikas, and Calum Ritchie are all competing for spots. The crease battle between Ilya Sorokin, Semyon Varlamov, and Vitek Vanecek is heating up. On defense, Adam Pelech, Ryan Pulock, Alexander Romanov, and Noah Dobson are locks, while Tony DeAngelo, Carson Soucy, and Scott Mayfield fight for the bottom pairing.
The Islanders are 6th in the Metropolitan Division and face the Toronto Maple Leafs on September 30. Gary predicts Calum Ritchie cracks the lineup, while Kelly sees Matias Maccelli earning a top-six role. Who trends up and who trends down? Listen to the full episode for all the takes.
