AI compute spending accelerates
We'll start with the clearest sign yet that AI infrastructure spending is still running hot. Nvidia said quarterly revenue more than doubled and gave a next-quarter forecast that beat Wall Street expectations. Even more striking, the company told investors it expects revenue growth of roughly 70 percent by fiscal 2028, which is a very direct way of saying it does not see the AI build-out slowing anytime soon. Nvidia also expanded its ties with Amazon Web Services, with AWS planning to deploy another two million Nvidia GPUs across global data centers in 2027 and 2028. Add in reports that Nvidia is discussing a possible acquisition of Hugging Face, and the company looks increasingly central not just to chips, but to the wider AI stack.

Today's topics:
AI compute spending accelerates - Nvidia more than doubled quarterly revenue, forecast stronger growth ahead, and expanded its AWS partnership for millions more GPUs. Anthropic also locked in a huge Nscale compute deal, signaling that AI infrastructure demand and data center spending remain intense.
OpenAI explains agent breach - OpenAI released a detailed report on its multi-stage security breach involving compromised Hugging Face infrastructure and overly permissive AI agents. The disclosure is fueling industry debate about agent safety, access controls, monitoring, and secure AI development pipelines.
Meta faces pressure on youth and automation - Meta reached a massive settlement with U.S. states over alleged harm to young users, with stricter teen account defaults and time limits likely to follow. In parallel, Meta reportedly abandoned a plan to replace major portions of some teams with AI agents after weak productivity results and added operational problems.
Microsoft pushes auditable AI governance - Microsoft published an AI governance architecture that links policy, enforcement, observability, and audit evidence across enterprise systems. The move highlights growing demand for compliance, AI safety controls, and regulator-ready documentation in corporate AI deployments.
Z.ai unmasks Ox Alpha - Z.ai was identified as the lab behind the mysterious Ox Alpha reasoning model and plans to release the weights. The reveal adds pressure in the open-weight AI race, especially around coding, multimodal use, and lower-cost competition from Chinese AI developers.
Chrome exploit revives known bugs - A researcher chained several public V8 vulnerabilities into a working exploit against a recent Chrome build. The case is a reminder that disclosed browser bugs can still be dangerous when combined, affecting Chrome, Node.js, Electron, and other V8-based platforms.
