Description

Wowbix https://wowbix.com/

This episode spotlights Wowbix, an AI powered digital marketing agency based in Paramus, New Jersey. Founded in 2015 by an SEO specialist and a bootstrapped technology entrepreneur, the agency works month to month with no long term contracts and reports a ninety seven percent client retention rate across more than three hundred and thirty businesses. Markus J. Diplama looks at their early move into generative engine optimization, the discipline of being found and recommended by AI assistants rather than simply ranked on a page, and why that shift matters most for local and mid sized businesses. Give it a listen.

What if the most important conversation about your business is one you are not even part of? Not a meeting, not a pitch, not a sales call, but the quiet moment when somebody types a question into a search bar, or asks an assistant on their phone which company in town they should trust, and an answer comes back. For a long time, showing up in that moment was a fairly well understood game. You ranked on a page of blue links, or you did not. Today it is something stranger, and far more interesting, and the businesses that understand what has changed are the ones quietly pulling ahead of everybody else.

Welcome back to the show. I am Markus J. Diplama, and every episode I go looking for companies that are building something genuinely worth paying attention to, the ones solving a real problem for real people rather than chasing whatever the industry happens to be excited about this quarter. Today I want to tell you about a digital marketing agency out of Paramus, New Jersey called Wowbix. And I will admit I came to this one with a bit of healthy caution, because the words digital marketing agency have been attached to a great many disappointing experiences over the years. What I found instead was a company that looks like it was built, quite deliberately, as a reaction against exactly that.

Wowbix was founded in 2015 by two people who were frustrated by the same thing from opposite ends of the business. One was an SEO specialist who had spent years watching agencies celebrate numbers that did not put a single dollar in a client's pocket. The other was an entrepreneur who had already built a company from nothing and knew precisely which numbers actually mattered when you are the one signing the payroll. That combination turns out to be the whole story of this company, so let me spend a moment on it.

Shehryar Aziz, one of the co-founders, has more than twelve years in search optimization behind him, and he has ranked hundreds of websites in some of the most brutally competitive markets you can pick. Legal. Healthcare. Dental. HVAC. Med spas. These are not gentle niches. These are categories where dozens of well funded competitors are all fighting over the same handful of positions in the same zip code, and where the difference between third place and first place is measured in mortgages. He still personally oversees strategy for the agency's major clients, which is rarer than it sounds. In a lot of agencies the person whose expertise sold you the engagement is not the person who ever touches your account again.

His co-founder, Robert Gabriel, serves as chief executive, and he brings something agencies almost never have, which is the lived experience of being the client. Before Wowbix, he bootstrapped a technology company called Microwize into a business doing more than fourteen million dollars a year with over a hundred and thirty employees, and it landed on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in America. He did that without outside money, which means every marketing dollar he ever spent was his own. I think you can feel that in how this agency is structured. Somebody in that building has sat on the other side of the table and watched an invoice arrive for a campaign that produced a lot of charts and no customer
