Episode Details

New York is so much more than New York City—and there are incredible camping experiences waiting across the state. In this episode of Inspired Travels with Patti, I talk with Emily Simmons, President and CEO of Campground Owners of New York, about the many ways to experience New York by RV, tent, cabin, yurt, or glamping setup. Emily shares some of the state's best regions for camping, overlooked destinations, tips for choosing the right campground, and why sometimes the campground itself can be the destination. We also talk about fall foliage, creating lasting family memories, the unique community you'll find among RVers, and why you don't have to travel far from home to have a meaningful adventure.

What you'll discover in this episode:

• Why New York camping is nothing like the stereotype of New York City
• The unique camping experiences found in the Catskills, Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, Hudson Valley, Thousand Islands, Lake Champlain, and other regions
• How to choose a campground based on your personal non-negotiables, travel style, and who you're traveling with
• Why glamping, cabins, yurts, and RV rentals make camping accessible even if you don't own an RV
• Hidden gems that may be worth traveling a little farther from the highway to discover
• How camping creates opportunities for family memories, community, and meaningful connections
