Episode Details

Houston Cougars make waves on the recruiting trail as four-star Mississippi forward/center Triston Hawthorne emerges as a perfect fit for Kelvin Sampson’s high-octane defense. Sporting a 7’4” wingspan and dynamic shot-blocking ability, Hawthorne’s weekend visit sparks excitement—can his high-energy, defensive-minded game transform the Cougars’ frontcourt?

The conversation focused on Hawthorne’s unique athleticism, the Cougars’ signature ball screen defense, and the fierce recruiting battle with LSU and Ole Miss. One concept discussed was Houston’s emphasis on long-arm prospects like JoJo Tuggler and how Hawthorne’s skillset aligns with recent program trends. Several points were raised, including roster strategy, potential for pairing Hawthorne with another big man, and the importance of experience over one-and-dones in championship runs. Will the Cougars land this defensive anchor and continue to build a lineup built for NCAA title contention?
