GAME CHANGER? Houston & Sampson Land in 5-Star Reese Alston's Top 7, WILL They Land Him?
Description
Houston Cougars chase elite point guard Reese Alston as recruiting drama heats up. The Houston-born star, son of Rafer “Skip to My Lou” Alston, has listed the Cougars in his top seven alongside Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Wichita State. With Alston’s one-and-done potential and fierce competition at the point guard position, will Houston’s deep roster and winning culture be enough to secure his commitment?
The discussion breaks down Alston’s dynamic playmaking, the shifting landscape of college basketball eligibility, and why relationships with coaches—especially ties to Wichita State—could sway this high-stakes decision. Insights include Houston’s Point Guard U legacy, the impact of the 5th-year eligibility rule, and whether Alston prioritizes guaranteed minutes over competing for a national title. The Houston Cougars’ 2027-28 outlook could hinge on this recruiting battle—will they land their next superstar?
