Will Slickers, founder of the hospitality.fm podcast network, joins from between two Ross paintings to talk about building a podcast empire in the short-term rental space. He quit his hotel management job in December 2019 to go full-time on his show Slick Talk, survived COVID, and in March 2022 launched a network that signed nearly 30 podcasts in five months - including Live Let Thrive. He's stepped back from day-to-day operations at his company Recreation Vacation Rentals, dropping from 50% to 25% equity, to focus on the network.

The conversation drifts into the art of interviewing, the Great Resignation, and why people start podcasts. Myka reveals he quit his nine-to-five six months ago after a pneumonia hospital stay made him rethink everything. Steve confesses the show is stress relief and his happy place - a sentiment Will echoes about audio work. They agree: don't start a podcast to sell a product after six months in the business. Do it because you're genuinely curious, and the 26% of Apple podcasts that are dead prove most people quit too soon.
