Back to EpisodesBret Bielema offers up a look at how Illinois is getting creative with the money gap to try and stay competitive with the more ‘monied’ teams in the league…is Nebraska doing that?
Description
-Illinois head football coach Bret Bielema said on the podium in Chicago last month at B1G Media Days that he hired a new DC (Bobby Hauck) in
February to install a scheme that might catch the rest of the league by surprise
-He then said on the side podium that he is changing the way his defense is schemed because Illinois can’t afford to pay the numbers needed to
get what he wanted otherwise---they had committed a lot of their money to the offensive line, and D-line players were going for “ungodly”
amounts of money…so he’s patching together a defense that doesn’t need a bunch of ‘big’ players. Will that work and keep Illinois competitive?
Who knows…but what is Nebraska doing to try and keep up in the era of the money gap?
