What Does It Mean to Be a Church Family?

Season 3 Episode 11 Published 2 weeks ago
Description

What does it actually mean when the Bible calls Christians members of God’s household?

In Pot 3, Cup 6 of Grace in the Grind, Cody Hudson examines what Scripture means by church family, Christian community, and our responsibility to one another beyond Sunday attendance.

Ephesians 2 says believers are members of the household of God. Throughout the New Testament, Christians are commanded to love, honor, encourage, forgive, restore, serve, welcome, and carry one another’s burdens.

That is more than friendliness.

It is family.

This episode explores:

• What it means to belong to God’s household • Why church family is received rather than curated • The biblical “one another” commands • Why meaningful care cannot flow only through pastors • How ordinary believers carry one another’s burdens • Why being known requires vulnerability • The difference between biblical belonging and casual church attendance • Why Christian community requires patience and forgiveness • Why church family does not eliminate healthy boundaries

Biblical family does not mean every Christian must be equally close to everyone.

It also does not mean tolerating manipulation, secrecy, abuse, or unhealthy behavior in the name of unity.

But it does mean we cannot treat the Church like a collection of people we happen to see once a week.

God has joined us to people we did not choose.

And part of Christian maturity is learning to love them faithfully.

The Church is not a crowd of customers receiving religious services.

It is the household of God.

And family cannot be outsourced.
