Episode Details

Former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback and national champion Jake Coker joins Mick Gillispie for a deep dive into the latest Alabama Football storylines, led by Kalen DeBoer officially naming Keelon Russell the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback.

Coker gives a former QB’s perspective on what happens behind the scenes when a coach names his starter, sharing stories from his own private conversations with Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher. He also explains why Austin Mack still has to prepare like Alabama’s starter every single week — because a backup quarterback is always just one play away.

The guys also break down Alabama’s projected offensive line, why continuity and chemistry up front are so important for pass protection, the latest Crimson Tide injury updates, and the competitive kicking battle between Graham Nicholson and Conor Talty.

Plus, Jake and Mick discuss the changing landscape of NCAA eligibility and roster rules, including the possibility of players with NFL experience returning to college football.

And it wouldn’t be a conversation with Jake Coker without getting off the football field. The guys get into Charles Barkley and Larry Bird stories, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Bob Thornton, the legendary Kenny Chesney Flora-Bama concert, golf, smoking brisket and why Jake would rather spend a weekend with his family than five hours on the golf course.
