Anthony Healey: APRA's Head of New Zealand Operations on Australian charts banning wholly AI-generated music

Published 1 week, 3 days ago
Description

AI-generated music will be banned from Australia's main music charts this week.

Wholly AI-generated tracks will not be eligible, though recordings using it in a supporting role will remain authorised.

It comes after a song produced with AI became the most-played track on radio and reached number four on two ARIA charts in July.

APRA's Head of New Zealand Operations Anthony Healey told Mike Hosking it's a bold statement that likely will be followed.

He says without things created by humans, there are no large language models or AI products.
