King Joash Turns Away from God | Joash's Terrible Choice | Bible Story for Kids
Description
What happened to King Joash after Jehoiada the priest died?
Joash had been protected as a baby, crowned king at seven years old, and guided for many years by the faithful priest Jehoiada. He even helped repair the temple of the Lord. But after Jehoiada died, Joash began listening to different voices, and his choices changed dramatically.
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we explore 2 Chronicles 24 and discover how Joash turned away from the Lord, how God repeatedly sent prophets to warn His people, and how Zechariah son of Jehoiada courageously spoke God's warning to the king and the people.
Sadly, Joash refused to listen. His story reminds children that following God isn't something we do simply because parents, teachers, pastors, or other faithful people encourage us. We need to know God's Word, listen when He corrects us, and continue following Him even when other voices encourage us to go another way.
Children will learn about:
- King Joash and Jehoiada the priest
- What changed after Jehoiada's death
- How Joash and Judah turned away from God
- God's patience in sending prophets to warn His people
- Zechariah's courage in speaking God's Word
- Why we should keep following God even when others do not
Bible passage: 2 Chronicles 24:15–27; see also 2 Kings 12.
